On July 16th Brampton Manor was lucky enough to be a race sponsor at the Newmarket races and to mark the occasion the staff at Brampton Manor decided to raise money for the Injured Jockey’s Fund by cycling 50km on a Rickshaw in our “10 Laps Challenge”. The injured Jockey’s Fund support jockeys who find themselves in financial trouble following injury or illness.
Staff volunteers riding a lap of the town with residents on board, a great way of involving our residents and the local community. We rented a rickshaw from a local provider and set ourselves the goal of 10 laps of 5km. This was a very difficult challenge, but the team of Brampton Manor met the challenge head on and completed the challenge within 7 hours! With fundraising going to continue for a couple more weeks into August, so far, the team have raised over £600.00 for the Jockey’s fund.
As you can see from our Facebook and LinkedIn feeds, the whole team and the residents had great fun out in the sun, getting encouragement from the locals as they cycled past the pubs and cafés in the town centre. One resident in particular, Sheila, had a lovely time being chauffeured in the afternoon.
