Blooming Buds
of Burlington

The 'Blooming Buds of Burlington' is our new social activity...with a twist! The visitors are all toddlers ranging in age from 18 months-3 years. Blooming Buds happens every Thursday morning and the children are all accompanied with their parents/guardians. This intergenerational socialisation is as great for all ages, and the children enjoy it as much as the residents! No phones or tablets are used when they come to play, the children all bring a toy from home such a book or a puzzle and we encourage everyone to get involved.

This intergenerational activity benefits the wellbeing of the children as well as the residents, as some of the children, like the residents may not have extended family nearby. Whilst the children are here, lots of laughter and smiles are shared, as well as a few ‘ahhhs’ and the residents also spend time socialising with the parents. Another benefit for our residents, is as we grow, so will the children! This gives our residents the opportunity to watch our lovely toddlers as they start to communicate, learn new moves and become fully fledged pre-schoolers.
