“Bake the Spirit of Christmas!” Boutique Care Homes Announces Christmas Cake Competition!
There’s something truly magical about Christmas baking, the comforting scent of spices, the sparkle of marzipan, and the joy of sharing something made with love. This year, we’re inviting all our wonderful Chefs and Kitchen Teams across The Burlington, Brampton Manor, and Chartwell House to roll up their sleeves and take part in our festive challenge: The Christmas Cake Competition – Bake the Spirit of Christmas!
This heart-warming competition is all about celebrating the incredible talent, creativity, and teamwork of our kitchen teams while spreading festive excitement throughout our homes. Every cake will be 100% handmade, no pre-made decorations or mixes, and will reflect the true spirit of Christmas through flavour, creativity, and design. More than just a bake-off, it’s a chance to bring residents, families, and staff together, spark joy and conversation, and showcase the wonderful community spirit that makes each of our homes so special during this time of year.
The Challenge
Launching Monday 3rd November, each home’s kitchen team will create their very own Christmas masterpiece inspired by the theme: “The Spirit of Christmas!” We’re looking for cakes that tell a story, a story that captures the warmth, nostalgia, and joy of the festive season.
Competition Guidelines
Who can enter: Kitchen teams (Chefs and Assistants)
Your creation must:
- Be entirely handmade by your team
- Use a variety of festive ingredients such as dried fruits, nuts, spices, marzipan, chocolate, and citrus
- Include creative decoration and presentation
- Have a name and short story or description behind it
Once complete, cakes should be beautifully displayed in your home for residents, families, and fellow team members to admire and enjoy.
Judging Criteria
Our judging panel will be looking for:
- Festive theme and creativity
- Taste and texture
- Presentation and originality
- Team collaboration
Get Ready to Share Your Festive Creations!
We’re excited to invite you to take part in our group cake judging! Simply submit photos or videos of your cake by Friday 12th December 2025, and your delicious creations will be shared across the group for everyone to admire and celebrate.
Residents will be voting for the “Most Festive Cake” or the “Residents’ Choice Award”. All photos and videos will be showcased for group judging and festive cheer.
- Winners will be revealed at our Christmas celebration event, complete with certificates and special prizes to spread the holiday joy.
