Celebrating the National Day of Arts in Care Homes 2025

This September 2025, Boutique Care Homes proudly joined a nationwide campaign led by The National Activity Association (NAPA) in celebrating National Day of Arts in Care Homes.

On Wednesday 24th September 2025, Boutique Care Homes proudly joined a nationwide campaign led by The National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) in celebrating National Day of Arts in Care Homes where more than 1,000 care homes across England celebrated.

This year’s theme, “Going Green”, invited residents and care teams to get imaginative with recycled, reused, and natural materials. From sculptures crafted from everyday scrap to nature-inspired paintings and collaborative projects using found objects, it was a chance to celebrate not only creativity but also the joy of making something meaningful together.

CEO of NAPA, Hilary Woodhead shared: “It’s wonderful to see so many care homes pledging to take part. The arts can make such a difference to daily life, bringing joy, sparking memories and helping residents feel connected to one another and their communities. This day is all about celebrating that creativity and sharing it with the wider world.”

At Boutique Care Homes, our communities embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, bringing their own unique spin on sustainable art. Here’s how each of our homes celebrated National Day of Arts in Care Homes:

The Burlington: Autumn Canvases & Upcycled Bottle Art

At The Burlington, residents channelled the changing seasons by painting beautiful autumnal scenes on canvas, this included golden leaves to cosy landscapes, each piece capturing the warmth of autumn. Their work is now displayed in their very own Nostalgia Art Room, transforming it into a gallery of seasonal joy.

The creativity didn’t stop there. Residents also took part in two sustainable bottle art workshops, transforming everyday glass bottles into striking decorative pieces. Using netting, shells, paper towel textures, twine, and even autumn leaves as stencils, each project combined recycling with artistry – finished off with glowing LED cork lights to make them shine.

These sessions sparked creativity but also gave residents the satisfaction of turning something ordinary into something truly extraordinary.

Brampton Manor: Paper Mâché Hot Air Balloons

Residents at Brampton Manor rolled up their sleeves and dived into some classic paper mâché crafting by turning newspapers and glue into whimsical hot air balloons. Once dry, each balloon was lovingly painted and decorated with personality and flair.

The finished creations now float proudly from the ceilings of the home, brightening the space and reminding everyone that there’s truly no age limit when it comes to creativity.

Chartwell House: Sheep Art & Forget-Me-Nots

Chartwell House partnered with St Laurence Church to create sheep artwork to hang from trees, a joyful nod to their local community’s religious celebrations.

In addition, residents linked their creativity to World Alzheimer’s Day, painting delicate blue Forget-Me-Nots in a dementia-friendly activity. These thoughtful pieces not only celebrated the arts but also raised awareness, honouring those living with dementia and highlighting the power of creativity in sparking connection and memory.

Why Arts in Care Matters

The National Day of Arts in Care Homes reminds us of all that creativity is more than just a pastime – it is a source of joy, self-expression, connection, and wellbeing.

At Boutique Care Homes, we believe care is about more than meeting needs; it’s about creating a home filled with warmth, inspiration, and opportunities for residents to live their best lives. Days like this highlight just how transformative the arts can be, helping our residents feel valued, connected, and empowered.

Here’s to another year of creativity, colour, and care so good, it’s unexpected.
