Firefighters, Fish & Friendship: Brampton Manor’s September Fry-Day Fish Club

On Friday 26th September, we welcomed members of the Newmarket Fire Service to join residents, families and our team for a delicious lunch prepared by Head Chef Adrian.

At Brampton Manor, our monthly Fry-Day Fish Club is always a highlight for residents and team alike, our September gathering was made even more special with some heroic guests. On Friday 26th September, we welcomed members of the Newmarket Fire Service to join residents, families and our team for a delicious lunch prepared by Head Chef Adrian.

This visit was part of our ongoing commitment to building meaningful connections with our local community and recognising those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe. Earlier in the month, Brampton Manor reached out to local services – including the ambulance team, police, and fire service, and to thank them for the incredible work they do day after day. It had been some time since we had hosted the fire service, so this Fry-Day Fish Club felt like the perfect opportunity to come together.

Paul Grimes from Newmarket Fire Service shared a lovely thought during the afternoon: “Everyone sees the job of a firefighter, but they don’t always see the other work we do with schools, towns and places like here. We’re looking forward to working together with Brampton Manor during the next fire training.”

It was a reminder that our local services go above and beyond, not just in emergencies, but also in supporting and educating the wider community. For our residents, the afternoon was full of conversations, laughter, and connection. Families, too, shared how much it meant to see Brampton Manor recognise our local services in such a warm and personal way. Our resident, Ken’s family mentioned: “It’s lovely to see Brampton Manor welcoming the fire service, and to see them away from their jobs spending time together.”

This was possible with the enthusiasm and teamwork of our Brampton Manor family. Activities Lead Valda, Admissions Manager Danny, Chef Adrian, and the whole team worked together to make sure our guests felt right at home.

This event is a shining example of what life at Brampton Manor is all about; community, connection and care that goes beyond our walls. Supporting wider organisations not only puts our home’s name into the heart of Newmarket, but also brings joy, pride, and fresh experiences to our residents. It’s these moments of shared humanity that truly enrich life here.

We’re proud to stand behind and support the incredible people who keep our communities safe, and we look forward to many more partnerships and shared plates of fish and chips to come!
