From Shepperton to the Castle: A Royal Experience for Burlington Residents
At The Burlington, every day is shaped by the belief that later life should be filled with joy, connection, and purpose. In April, that philosophy came to life in the most extraordinary way as residents were invited to take a personal guided tour of Windsor Castle.
The visit took place on Wednesday 23rd April and was a truly memorable occasion for all involved. Residents were welcomed into the historic castle, exploring grand state rooms and learning about the generations of royal history held within its walls. For many, the experience evoked memories of national celebrations and personal moments shared with loved ones over the decades.
Among the residents attending was Mrs Emrys-Roberts, who fondly remembered visiting the castle in her youth. “I used to love visiting the castle as a child,” she said. “Today has really made me happy—I can’t wait to tell my family I’ve been back.” Another resident, Mrs Andrews, remarked, “This is such an important part of history. I’m so lucky to have been invited.”
This was The Burlington’s first visit to Windsor Castle, made possible through the home’s dedicated Lifestyle & Activities team. These experiences are part of Boutique Care Homes’ Life Enrichment Programme, designed to support wellbeing by offering tailored opportunities that align with residents’ personal interests and life stories.
“These moments matter,” said Sarah Burt, Head of Lifestyle and Activities at The Burlington. “They bring residents together, spark emotion, and provide a deeper sense of connection. This is what we mean by care so good, it’s unexpected.”
At The Burlington, care is more than a service—it’s a feeling. A sense of belonging. A place where each resident is valued for who they are and supported to live life their way. Offering residential, dementia, and short-stay care in an elegant, welcoming setting, The Burlington embodies Boutique Care Homes’ ethos of a warm and loving family where everyone feels at home.
