Pumpkins, Pals & Precious Memories at Brampton Manor

Brampton Manor took a seasonal adventure to South Angle Farm; filled with laughter, connection, and a touch of nostalgia.

There’s something truly special about this time of year; crisp autumn air, golden leaves, and the excitement of Halloween just around the corner. For our residents at Brampton Manor, it was the perfect time to a seasonal adventure at South Angle Farm, filled with laughter, connection, and a touch of nostalgia.

Our residents and team set off with smiles as wide as the countryside itself, ready for a day of pumpkin picking and meeting the farm’s friendly animals. From cheeky goats and soft bunnies to curious guinea pigs and gentle alpacas, the farm was full of life and joy. The sound of laughter, chatter, and soft animal bleats made the day feel wonderfully alive.

For many of our residents, being surrounded by animals brought back fond memories of their younger years, from keeping pets to spending time outdoors. One resident, Jill, shared that she “just simply loves animals and feels so safe around them.” She was so grateful for the opportunity to spend the day reconnecting with something she’s always loved.

Jeannie also shared how much she “loves coming out for the day and experiencing new things,” and this visit certainly didn’t disappoint. From feeding the animals to exploring the pumpkin patch, there was plenty to see, do and smile about.

The highlight of the day was, of course, choosing the perfect pumpkin! Everyone enjoyed selecting their own, ready to bring a bit of Halloween spirit back to Brampton Manor. It was wonderful to see the pride and excitement on each face as residents compared their picks and shared stories about past Halloweens, from carving pumpkins with their family to decorating their homes or the spooky season.

A huge thank you goes to Geri from South Angle Farm, who made the day come alive with his warmth, kindness and fascinating stories about the animals. We’re also deeply grateful to Alan from Fairstead House School, who kindly picked us up and dropped us off, your thoughtfulness and support made this trip possible.

Reflecting on the outing, Danny Harris, Admissions Manager at Brampton Manor, shared: “Days like these are so important for our residents. They give everyone the chance to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, and relive happy memories. It’s about creating moments that spark joy, laughter and a real sense of belonging.”

As we returned home, pumpkins in tow and hearts full, it was clear that the day had been something truly special. At Brampton Manor, it’s moments like these that remind us how meaningful shared experiences can be. Because at Boutique Care Homes, we believe care is more than a service, it’s a feeling of joy, belonging and connection.
