A Summer Picnic for Families of All Ages at Chartwell House
Some of the best afternoons happen when you bring together people who wouldn’t normally share the same space. On Friday 24th July, that’s exactly what we’re planning.
We’re joining forces with Bumps, Babies & Books for a relaxed summer picnic in the gardens at Chartwell House. Babies, toddlers, parents, grandparents, and our residents, all in one place, with good food, a singalong, and no agenda other than a lovely afternoon.
What to Expect
Arrive from 12:00pm and settle onto your picnic blanket. Our chefs will have a freshly prepared picnic lunch ready, along with unlimited tea, coffee and cold drinks throughout the afternoon. There’s no need to pack anything, just yourselves and something to sit on.
For little ones, our team will have complimentary homemade baby purées and baby-led weaning options on hand. Every family will take home a free baby or children’s book, too.
At 1:30pm, we’ll gather together for a nursery rhyme singalong. Whether your little one is a confident performer or more of an enthusiastic audience member, they’re very welcome.
If the weather has other ideas, we’ll simply move indoors. The afternoon carries on either way.
Why This Matters to Us
Chartwell House has always been more than a care home. It’s part of the community in Broadstairs, and events like this are how that connection stays alive.
Intergenerational moments, residents sharing an afternoon with young families, babies who’ve never met an older generation outside their own family — are genuinely good for everyone involved. They bring warmth into the home for our residents and offer local families a setting they might not otherwise have had reason to visit.
Our partnership with Bumps, Babies & Books is one we’re proud of, and this event is a reflection of what it looks like in practice.
