Chartwell House Awarded Highest Food Hygiene Rating

Team at Chartwell House Care Home, Broadstairs, were delighted to receive a 5 Food Hygiene Rating following a surprise inspection by Thanet District Council.

Newly opened Chartwell House Care Home based on Draco Drive close to Westwood Cross in Broadstairs, received a surprise inspection from Thanet District Council on February 3rd 2023.

Assessed across three areas including, Compliance with food hygiene and safety procedures, compliance with structural requirements and compliance in management/control procedures. Chartwell House was awarded the highest rating by Food Hygiene Inspectors.

The Food Hygiene Rating scheme helps local residents by giving clear information about the businesses’ hygiene standards. With the highest rating of 5 indicating hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law.

The Food Standards Agency runs the scheme in partnership with local authorities and give a snapshot of the standards of food hygiene found at the time of inspection which include; handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities, how food safety is managed.
