Variety is the spice of life!

A good deal of laughter ringing in the air this week. Mind games, competitive games - dominoes and moving to the beat! Plus a variety of small group activities. Fun and fitness at Friday Ball and Balance classes. Yoga, keep fit and some jiving. Nothing like dancing to keep fit! The weather was glorious and we made the best of it by soaking up the sun with activities inside and outside
for those who prefer the shade. We are still enjoying having our hair done again thanks to our lovely Danielle.
"Love working here wonderful staff and a lovely atmosphere" Danielle Mccue

The Burlington cruised to Austria and Germany this Week!

The Burlington rang with the ‘Sound of Music’ and ‘Caberet’ today at our German and Austrian cruise stop! Great classics music quiz, exercise to folk music, flag painting and finally a crescendo of those who sang and those who danced. What a lovely time!
Move to the beat was energising for our keep fit enthusiasts. We had a Residents meeting and new staff members were introduced. Followed by music and walks and talks in the garden, appreciating the wonderfully abundant flower boxes the Garden club look after. A lovely, busy and varied week of activities. The painting class was fruit still life. Photography club with Marc and resident subjects. Many calls from family and friends and a welcome gift bundle of games for Activities. Thank you so much, they are greatly appreciated. Many enjoyed the garden without any rainfall from those dramatic clouds!
"Thanks for our visit today! Wonderfully organised as usual, confidently safe & great to see mum"

Tai Chi at The Burlington

A gentle start for the week with Tai Chi and Qi gong. Tai Chi, a form of Qigong, is one of the more popular methods of movement for seniors. That’s why both active seniors and those new to fitness can benefit from the low-impact moves taught in this gentle form of exercise. Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing, various flowing physical postures and breathing techniques, along with meditation.

Flower Arranging and Doll Therapy

At the weekend we captured Betty arranging her flowers from her family and Joseph painting Rosemary ‘s nails. Great job Joseph. He can turn his hand to anything and do it well! Indoor and outdoor games kept everyone entertained plus some more Doll Therapy. Alzheimer's doll therapy is a known resource in working with dementia residents. Using a Teddy Bear or a Baby Doll can be a very effective way for a person with Alzheimer's or any kind of dementia to decrease stress and agitation.
