Thanet Naval Hero Unveils Commemorative Plaque to Mark Opening of Chartwell House.

Chartwell House Care Home proudly celebrated six months of fostering a vibrant community as resident and naval hero, Gerald Gold, emotionally unveiled a commemorative plaque. The heartfelt ceremony took place in front of 200 esteemed guests, honouring the remarkable journey of Chartwell House.

The commemorative event was held in true beach-themed style, transforming the care home into a lively beach paradise befitting its position in the seaside community of Thanet.

Throughout the day, 200 attendees were treated to an array of beach-inspired activities and entertainment. Laughter and joy filled the air as children and adults alike revelled in building sandcastles and bouncing on the bouncy castle. The timeless charm of the Punch & Judy Show captivated guests, while live performers kept spirits high with their energetic acts.

The highlight of the event came as Gerald Gold unveiled the commemorative plaque, adorned with the home's ethos to be 'A Warm and Loving Family Where Everyone Feels At Home.' With deep emotion, Gerald shared his experience of moving to Chartwell House with his wife, Wilhelmina. "It was one of the hardest decisions we have had to make, but we needed more support. We have moved from a beloved big house, but something happened when we recently went back. My wife turned to me and said, 'Can we go home?' Gesturing to the guests he exclaimed.  “And this is our home, Chartwell House is our home." His heartfelt words resonated with the entire audience, creating a powerful sense of appreciation and unity.

Diane Collins, the Home Manager of Chartwell House, expressed immense gratitude to Gerald Gold and all the guests for joining in the celebration of the care home's six-month milestone. "The beach-themed party was a resounding success, bringing together residents, staff, and the wider community in a joyous atmosphere," she said. "Witnessing the smiles, laughter, and shared moments of connection truly embodies the spirit of our warm and loving family at Chartwell House. We remain dedicated to creating a home where everyone feels a sense of belonging, and events like these serve as a testament to the incredible community we have fostered. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who have contributed to making Chartwell House a place that truly feels like home."

Carl Roberts, representing Boutique Care Homes Head Office Support Team, shared his pride in the vibrant community that the Chartwell House team has built. "Today, it fills my heart with immense pride to witness the success of that endeavour and the emergence of a flourishing community."
