Chartwell House Says Thank You With a Heroes’ Breakfast
A Table, or a Bap to Go
On Wednesday 9th September, Chartwell House Care Home in Broadstairs is marking Emergency Services Day the only way that felt right: by feeding the people who spend their days looking after everyone else. NHS staff and Emergency Services personnel are invited to a complimentary breakfast, held between 8:00am and 12:00pm, as a small thank you for the work they do across Thanet and beyond.
Guests who can spare the time are invited to book a table for a freshly prepared Full English, served in the home’s gardens by the sea, where the morning can stretch into a proper catch-up with colleagues from other services. For anyone working a shift and short on time, there’s a simpler option: a bacon or sausage breakfast bap, ready to grab and go.
Mohammed, Deputy Manager at Chartwell House has seen first-hand what frontline work asks of people. “These are the people who show up on the worst day of someone’s life and make it a little easier. A breakfast is a small thing next to that, but we wanted to do something, and we wanted them to know they’re seen.”
Taking the Thanks on the Road
Not every NHS or Emergency Services worker can step away for breakfast, so the Chartwell House team will spend the morning visiting local GP surgeries, hospitals, medical centres, ambulance stations, police stations and fire stations across the area, dropping off sweet treats for anyone on shift. It’s a way of reaching the people the event can’t, and of saying the same thing in person: thank you.
Jaye, Admissions Manager at Chartwell House, sees the event as part of something longer-running. “We’ve built real relationships with the services around us over the years, and days like this are how we keep them going.”
