Chartwell House shortlisted for Most Inspiring Dementia Care Provider at Dementia Friendly Kent Awards 2026. Award ceremony 20 May at Orida Hotel, Maidstone.

Chartwell House, part of Boutique Care Homes, has been named a finalist in the Most Inspiring Dementia Care Provider category at the Dementia Friendly Kent Awards 2026, recognising the home’s commitment to person-centred dementia care and community impact.

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 20 May 2026 at the Orida Hotel in Maidstone, where winners will be presented by Scott Mitchell, who served as an Ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research UK and continues to champion dementia awareness in honour of his late wife, Dame Barbara Windsor.

“We’re incredibly proud of the team at Chartwell House for this recognition,” said Martin Murphy, Operations Director at Boutique Care Homes. “This nomination reflects the dedication our team show every single day, creating genuine connections with residents, understanding their life stories, and building care around what matters most to them and their families. The positive feedback we receive from families tells us we’re getting it right, and this shortlisting confirms that our approach to dementia care is making a real difference.”

The Most Inspiring Dementia Care Provider award recognises care services that deliver significant emotional and practical benefits for people living with dementia and their families, demonstrate strong engagement with best practice initiatives, and actively participate in their local dementia-friendly community.

Chartwell House’s Life Enrichment Programme centres on six wellbeing principles, Contribute, Grow, Reflect, Feel, Move, and Connect with the approach moving beyond traditional activity-based care to create personalised experiences that nurture mind, body, and soul.

The home’s dementia-friendly environment features purpose-designed spaces for reminiscence therapy, sensory stimulation, and memory-focused activities, supported by specially trained teams who work closely with families to create individualised care plans.

The Dementia Friendly Kent Awards are led by the Kent Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), a partnership between Kent County Council, Kent and Medway NHS Mental Health Trust (KMHT), and organisations across the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
