Margie Faces the Jungle to Champion Surrey’s Unsung Heroes

Margielyn Gonzaga, General Manager of The Burlington Care Home by Boutique Care, is taking on a jungle challenge to raise funds for Surrey's unpaid carers.

Margielyn Gonzaga, General Manager of The Burlington Care Home by Boutique Care, is set to take on a series of Bushtucker-style trials this June in aid of Surrey’s 120,000+ unpaid carers.

Woking, Surrey. Margielyn Gonzaga, General Manager of The Burlington Care Home by Boutique Care in Woking, will be putting herself firmly outside her comfort zone on Friday 12th June 2026 when she takes part in I’m a Director, Get Me Out of Here!, the annual corporate fundraising challenge organised by Crossroads Care Surrey.

The event, held at The Laithwaite Community Stadium in Woking, invites Surrey business leaders to face a series of challenges inspired by the hit TV show, all in the name of raising vital funds for the county’s unpaid carers. Margie is aiming to raise £1,000 for the cause.

She is no stranger to the spirit behind the challenge. Boutique Care founder Ameet Kotecha previously took on the very same event, and now it’s Margie’s turn to step up. Snakes and all. Those who know her well will appreciate the significance: Margie’s biggest fear is snakes, making the jungle-themed challenge a rather pointed test of nerve.

“I’m taking part in I’m a Director, Get Me Out of Here! because I genuinely want to support such an incredible cause,” said Margielyn Gonzaga. “Crossroads makes a real difference to so many families across our community, and it’s vital that we all do more to help.”

The motivation is deeply personal as well as professional. As General Manager of The Burlington, Margie works daily with residents, families, and carers navigating the pressures of later-life care. Unpaid carers are the backbone of that wider system, and all too often go without the rest and recognition they deserve.

Crossroads Care Surrey supports those carers directly, providing respite services that give people the chance to breathe. The charity estimates there are over 120,000 unpaid carers across Surrey alone.

Ameet Kotecha, Founder of Boutique Care Homes, said: “Margie embodies everything we stand for at Boutique Care. She leads with heart every single day at The Burlington, and to see her take on this challenge for carers (the same people who make our wider care system possible) is exactly the kind of thing that makes our whole team proud. Please support her.”

I’m a Director, Get Me Out of Here! is one of Surrey’s most prominent charity fundraising events, bringing together business leaders from across the county each year. Past participants describe it as unexpectedly moving as well as genuinely terrifying.
