A Heartwarming Afternoon at the Dementia Friendly Carol Service
There’s something truly magical about the way music can bring people together, especially at Christmas. Last week, we had the joy of experiencing that magic first-hand as our Admissions Manager, Kirsty Ford, joined Dementia Friendly Spelthorne for their beautiful Dementia Friendly Carol Service at St Mary’s Church in Sunbury.
For those who may not know, Kirsty is one of the founding members of Dementia Friendly Spelthorne, a community initiative close to her heart and deeply aligned with our own values at Boutique Care Homes. The group works tirelessly to create kinder, more understanding environments for those living with dementia, and this event was a shining example of just that.
A Service Filled With Warmth, Peace and Togetherness
As gentle carols floated through the church and thoughtful readings were shared, there was a palpable sense of calm, connection and festive warmth. Families, local organisations, volunteers and community groups all gathered side by side, a true reflection of what it means to support and embrace one another.
But one of the most special moments of the afternoon came from the Spelthorne Dementia Support Choir.
Their uplifting performance filled the church with joy, pride and emotion. Every note carried something beautiful, a reminder of the power of music for those living with dementia, and the strength that comes from community.
Standing Proud in Our Community
At Boutique Care Homes, we believe care is more than a service, it’s a feeling. A sense of belonging, comfort, and genuine connection. Being part of events like this is a natural extension of that belief.
We’re incredibly proud of Kirsty’s dedication and of the work being done by Dementia Friendly Spelthorne. Together, we’re helping to build a community that wraps its arms around those living with dementia, offering not just support, but understanding, dignity and plenty of festive cheer.
As we continue through the Christmas season, we carry with us the spirit of that beautiful afternoon: compassion, togetherness, and the comforting reminder that no one walks this journey alone.
