Chartwell House Shortlisted for Dementia Care and Engagement Award at the NAPA Awards 2025
Chartwell House, part of Boutique Care Homes, is proud to announce that it has been shortlisted for the prestigious Dementia Care and Engagement Award at the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) Awards 2025.
This recognition highlights Chartwell House’s commitment to transforming the lives of people living with dementia through holistic, innovative, and person-centred care. The home’s pioneering approach places creativity, wellbeing, and community engagement at the heart of everyday life, ensuring residents feel truly valued, empowered, and included.
A Holistic Approach to Dementia Care
Chartwell House’s philosophy goes beyond traditional care models, embedding dementia-friendly engagement into the rhythm of daily life. Its Life Enrichment Programme, based on six principles of wellbeing – Contribute, Grow, Reflect, Feel, Move, and Connect, ensures that every activity nurtures emotional, social, spiritual, physical, and educational wellness.
Community Partnerships and Initiatives
In addition to daily enrichment, Chartwell House has developed standout community initiatives that have captured national attention:
- Dementia Friendly Folk – Partnering with Broadstairs Folk Week, Chartwell House helped deliver the town’s first dementia-friendly event. Now in its third year, the initiative provides residents, families, and the community with inclusive access to music and dance, demonstrating the power of creativity to spark joy and connection.
- The Nostalgia Café – A monthly event in the home’s Bistro Café, designed to celebrate residents’ life stories through reminiscence activities, intergenerational groups, and community visits. Highlights include partnerships with the local fire brigade, creating multi-sensory experiences that enrich identity and belonging.
- Community Advocacy – Through active membership of the Thanet Dementia Action Alliance, the Chartwell House team works with local organisations and public services to make Thanet a more dementia-friendly community.
Diane Collins, Home Manager at Chartwell House, said: “We are honoured to be recognised at the NAPA Awards 2025.
