Staying Steady: Join Us for a Falls Prevention Event at Brampton Manor

Falls Prevention Seminar at Brampton Manor, 30 July. Practical advice, an Otago exercise taster, and refreshments. Reserve your free place today.

A fall doesn’t have to be part of getting older. It’s one of the most common worries we hear from families, and one of the most preventable, with the right knowledge and a bit of practice.

That’s why we’re hosting a Falls Prevention event at Brampton Manor on Thursday 30th July, from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and everyone is welcome: residents, families, local residents, and healthcare professionals alike.

What to expect

We’ve invited local Falls Prevention Specialist Sam Reid to lead the session. Sam will walk through practical, evidence-based advice on reducing the risk of falls, covering the small lifestyle changes that make a real difference to confidence and independence at home.

Sam will also lead a short taster of the Otago Exercise Programme, a gentle strength and balance class built specifically for older adults. It’s a simple set of movements, but the results speak for themselves: better balance, more confidence on your feet, and a lower risk of falling. The programme has also saved the NHS millions over the years by keeping people steady and out of hospital.

There will be refreshments and snacks throughout, so come, stay a while, and ask Sam your questions.

Why we’re doing this

Falls prevention sits at the heart of how we think about ageing well. Independence isn’t just about avoiding accidents, it’s about feeling confident enough to keep doing the things you love. Events like this let us:

  • Share strategies that genuinely reduce fall risk
  • Give people a real taste of the Otago Programme, not just a leaflet about it
  • Bring together residents, families, and local healthcare professionals to talk openly about healthy ageing
  • Show what life at Brampton Manor is actually like, for anyone considering care for themselves or a loved one
