You’re Invited: Ohana Summer BBQ at The Burlington
Summer at The Burlington has a tradition. Every year we throw open the doors, fire up the BBQ, and spend an afternoon with the people who matter most to this home, our residents, their families, and the wider community around us.
This year, we’re going Hawaiian.
Our Ohana Summer BBQ takes place on Friday 7th August, from 14:00 to 16:30, and it’s everything a summer afternoon should be: great food, live music, sunshine (fingers crossed), and genuinely good company.
What Is Ohana?
The word “ohana” comes from Hawaiian culture and means family, not just the people you’re related to, but the wider circle of people you love and choose to keep close.
It felt like the right theme for us. Because that’s exactly what The Burlington is.
What to Expect on the Day
This is a proper summer party, not a polished corporate event. Expect BBQ food fresh off the grill, tropical vibes, live music, and the kind of relaxed afternoon where conversations start easily and no one’s in a rush to leave.
It’s also a lovely opportunity to come and see the home if you haven’t visited before, or to catch up with our team if you’ve been meaning to get in touch. Our residents love having new faces around, and there’s no better way to experience The Burlington than on a day like this.
Why We Love This Event
Our annual summer BBQ is one of the highlights of the year at The Burlington. It brings together residents, families, team members, and neighbours in exactly the way we think a care home should. Not as a clinical setting, but as a real community, one that celebrates life together.
The Hawaiian theme this year is a nod to the spirit of togetherness at the heart of Ohana. Colourful, joyful, and a little bit fun. Just the way we like it.
