You’re Invited: Summer Bazaar at The Burlington
The Burlington is holding a Summer Bazaar in its Courtyard on Saturday 22nd August, and the whole Shepperton community is invited to come along.
A Fete Worth Stopping By For
From 11am to 3pm, the Courtyard at The Burlington will fill with stalls, chatter and the smell of something good on the go. Local craft stalls will be set up alongside a clothes stall worth a browse, and there’ll be artwork on display from residents and local makers. Treats are, naturally, part of the deal too, whether that’s a slice of cake or something savoury to graze on between stalls.
It’s a relaxed, unhurried kind of afternoon: the sort where you can wander at your own pace, sit somewhere shaded with a cup of tea, and let the day unfold. Entry is free, and there’s no need to book ahead.
More Than a Fete
Events like this matter at The Burlington for a simple reason: they’re a genuine chance to see the home as it actually is on an ordinary, happy day, not a showcase built for visitors.
“Days like this are exactly why I love working here,” says Margielyn, Home Manager at The Burlington. “Our residents get involved in choosing stalls and helping set up, our families come and go all afternoon, and our neighbours pop in just because they heard about it. That mix is what makes this place feel like home rather than somewhere people simply live.”
For families still weighing up their options, an afternoon like this can say more than any brochure. “If you’re looking into care for a relative, coming to something like the Summer Bazaar is a low-key way to get a feel for us,” adds Kirsty, Admissions Manager. “There’s no appointment to keep to and nobody’s expecting questions. You can just walk around, see how people spend their afternoon here, and decide from there whether it feels right.”
