Brampton Manor Invites Newmarket to See Dementia Care Differently
A Fixture in Newmarket’s Community
Brampton Manor sits on Fordham Road, a short ride from the gallops and training yards that gave Newmarket its name as the birthplace of British horse racing. It’s a town built on close relationships, between trainers and stable staff, breeders and owners, neighbours who’ve known each other for years. Brampton Manor has become part of that fabric, working alongside local groups and organisations rather than sitting apart from them.
On Monday 21st September 2026, that relationship goes a step further. The home’s car park will host a Virtual Dementia Tour bus, open to businesses and community members across Newmarket, not just families with a personal connection to care.
Inside the Bus
The tour is a form of experiential dementia training. Instead of reading about symptoms or watching a presentation, delegates go through a simulated experience designed to reflect what living with dementia might actually feel like, the sounds, the sensations, the moments of confusion that can come with it. The aim isn’t to shock. It’s to build a deeper, more practical understanding that people can carry back into their own workplaces and daily lives.
“I spent years working as a nurse before I came to Brampton Manor, and one thing never changed: understanding always has to come first,” says Akhi Goswami, Home Manager at Brampton Manor. “Newmarket has welcomed us as part of this community. Opening our doors to the people who live and work alongside us felt like the right way to give something back.”
