Join The Burlington's free Care Fees Seminar on 10 November with financial planner Mark Barnett. Cheese, wine, and honest advice on care costs.

Working out how to pay for care is one of the hardest parts of the decision for many families, and it’s a subject that rarely gets talked about until a crisis forces the conversation. The Burlington in Shepperton is aiming to change that with a free Care Fees Forum in its Piano Bar on Tuesday 10th November, opening the discussion up to the local community well before anyone needs to make a decision under pressure.

An Evening Led by a Care Fees Specialist

The seminar will be led by Mark Barnett, a Financial Planner and Care Fees Specialist from Providence Care, who will talk through the realities of funding care: what it costs, what support might be available, and how families can plan ahead rather than react in the moment. The format is a relaxed evening discussion rather than a formal presentation, with cheese and wine on hand in the Piano Bar to keep the atmosphere sociable and unhurried.

The event is open to anyone who wants to attend, whether that’s someone starting to think about their own future, a family member supporting a parent, or a friend of a current Burlington resident who has questions of their own.

Why The Burlington Is Hosting This Conversation

The Burlington already uses its Piano Bar for community gatherings, and this seminar extends that same spirit to a topic families often find difficult to raise. Home Manager Margielyn Gonzaga, known to residents and colleagues as Margie, explains why the home wanted to bring this kind of information to Shepperton:

“So many families come to us already worried about the cost of care, and by then they’ve usually had far less time to plan than they’d have liked. We wanted to put a genuinely knowledgeable person in front of local families early, with no pressure and no agenda beyond giving them useful answers to take away.”

That no-pressure approach runs through the whole evening. There’s no obligation to be considering The Burlington itself, no sales pitch built into the format, and no cost to attend, just an open conversation with someone who understands the financial side of care planning in detail.
