Join us at Keymer’s Big BBQ

Keymer Hall in Burgess Hill welcomes residents and neighbours to a family BBQ with a vintage ice cream van on Sunday 6th September.

Good Neighbours, Good Food

On Sunday 6th September, Keymer Hall is opening its garden for an afternoon that’s less about the home and more about the neighbourhood around it. From 11am to 2pm, residents and the people who live nearby are invited to share a BBQ, swap stories over a burger, and enjoy the kind of unhurried afternoon that’s easy to lose in a busy calendar.

Deckchairs will be out, the grill will be going, and conversation is the main event.

A Vintage Ice Cream Van on the Lawn

The afternoon gets a nostalgic touch with a vintage ice cream van parked up on the lawn, serving cones and choc ices to residents and visiting children alike. It’s the sort of detail that turns a garden gathering into a proper occasion, and a reminder that an afternoon at Keymer Hall doesn’t have to feel like a visit to a care home at all.

Building Something Local

For Keymer Hall, afternoons like this are about more than one BBQ. They’re about being a good neighbour, not just a name on the road.

“We want the people who live around us to feel like they know us, not just know of us,” says Christine Bunce, Home Manager at Keymer Hall. “An afternoon like this is a small thing, but it’s how real relationships with the people nearby actually start.”

Lisa, Admissions Manager at Keymer Hall, adds that “days like this often do double duty: neighbours get to see the home as it really is, long before they might ever need to think about care for a relative of their own.”
