Keymer Conversations: Falls Prevention Talk Comes to Keymer Hall
Keymer Hall is opening its doors again for the next instalment of Keymer Conversations, its regular series of talks that bring genuinely useful information to the Burgess Hill community. On Thursday 10th September, the care home is hosting a free session on falls prevention, led by local physiotherapist Roberto Di Gregorio of Physio Healthy.
A Practical Talk on a Subject That Touches Every Family
Falls are one of the most common reasons older people end up in hospital, and the fear of falling can quietly shrink someone’s world long before a fall actually happens. Roberto Di Gregorio will spend the afternoon at Keymer Hall talking through the everyday causes of falls, the warning signs worth watching for, and simple changes that can make a home safer, whether that home is a bungalow in Burgess Hill or a residential care setting. The talk runs from 3pm to 4:30pm, with time built in afterwards for the audience to ask their own questions, whether that’s about a specific worry for a parent or grandparent, or something closer to home.
Residents at Keymer Hall will be joined by neighbours and anyone from the wider community who wants to attend. No booking fee, just an hour and a half with someone who spends his working life helping people move and live more confidently.
The Second Chapter in Keymer Conversations
This is the second event in the Keymer Conversations series, following August’s Scam Busters talk, when PCSO Peter Bowyer-Frost spoke to a full room about the tactics scammers use and how to spot them. That session set the tone for what Keymer Conversations is meant to be: real, practical information delivered by people who know their subject, in a setting that happens to be a care home but works just as well as a village hall.
“Keymer Conversations isn’t about promoting Keymer Hall, it’s about being useful to the people around us,” said Christine Bunce, Home Manager at Keymer Hall. “Falls prevention is one of those subjects families don’t think about until it’s too late, so having someone like Roberto here, answering questions in person, matters more than any leaflet ever could. It’s also exactly the kind of partnership we want to keep building with people like Physio Healthy, who understand our residents as well as we do.”
Why It Matters Beyond the Talk Itself
Keymer Hall’s approach to care has always rested on the idea that support means more than ticking clinical boxes. As the home puts it, care is “more than just a service; it’s a profound feeling of comfort, security, and genuine connection.” A falls prevention talk fits that thinking exactly: it’s care extended outward, to families who haven’t yet walked through the door, as much as it is a service to residents already living there.
Events like this also give Keymer Hall a reason to keep strengthening ties with people who work alongside its residents every day, and Physio Healthy is a good example of a local partner whose expertise adds real value to that relationship.
