Martello Manor’s Monthly Stroke Friendship Café
At Martello Manor, we run a monthly Stroke Friendship Café: a supportive space for stroke survivors, their families and carers to meet, share experience and find a community, month after month, for as long as they need it. The series begins on Friday 9th October 2026 at 10:30am, when the very first session opens with a 30 to 40 minute presentation from the Stroke Association before continuing on the last Friday of each month thereafter.
This is a wonderful opportunity to:
- Connect with others who understand the stroke journey firsthand.
- Access practical guidance and support from the Stroke Association.
- Enjoy friendship and conversation in a warm, welcoming environment.
At Martello Manor, we believe community and connection play a vital role in recovery and wellbeing. This café is one of the ways we extend our support beyond the home, offering encouragement to stroke survivors and carers across Hythe who may otherwise feel isolated in their journey. It’s also what care so good, it’s unexpected looks like in practice, and part of the wider promise behind Not Just Care. “Recovery from stroke doesn’t happen in a single visit, it happens in the showing up, month after month, and that’s exactly what we’ve built this café to support,” says Marlene Abreu, Home Manager at Martello Manor.
We warmly invite stroke survivors, relatives and carers from Hythe and the surrounding area to join us, whether or not they have any connection to Martello Manor.
