Rodeo Fest Is Coming to Martello Manor
Get the boots and the fancy dress ready. On Saturday 22nd August, from 12:30 to 4pm, Martello Manor Gardens will swap coastal tranquility for a country western garden party the home is calling Rodeo Fest, and everyone in Hythe is invited.
A Garden Party, Western Style
There’ll be a Bucking Bronco to ride (brave volunteers only), a lasso and horseshoe toss to test your aim, and Quick Draw and Stocks for anyone after a laugh at a friend’s expense. The Martello Manor Saloon will be pouring cold beer and refreshments, live country western music will keep the garden moving, and there’s line dancing for anyone willing to learn a few new steps. On the food side, expect a full BBQ spread: burgers, hotdogs, chilli nachos and corn on the cob, alongside the smell of woodsmoke drifting across the lawn. Fancy dress is encouraged, so dust off the cowboy hats.
“We wanted the whole garden to feel alive that day, music, laughter, the smell of a barbecue on the go,” says Marlene Abreu, Home Manager at Martello Manor. “For our residents especially, that kind of energy in their own garden means everything.”
A Celebration for Everyone Who’s Been Part of the Journey
Rodeo Fest marks Martello Manor’s first big community celebration since opening its doors. Since Pillows and Prosecco back in June and the day the home welcomed Joan as its founding resident, families, team, neighbours and local partners have all played a part in shaping what Martello Manor has become. This event is for them, and for anyone in Hythe who hasn’t yet had the chance to see the home and gardens for themselves.
“Some of our visitors on the day will be families still deciding what care looks like for someone they love,” says Jude Coveney, Admissions Manager at Martello Manor. “Coming to something like this first, before any of those bigger conversations, lets them see the place as it really is.”
It’s a chance to meet the team, meet each other, and get a proper feel for what life at Martello Manor is like.
