The Burlington Named Care Home of The Year Finalists for 5th Year
The Burlington by Boutique Care Homes, situated in Shepperton, Surrey, has been named a finalist in the Care Home of the Year category at the Surrey Care Awards 2026.
This year’s awards carry the theme Compassion in Action, and drew a strong field of entries from care providers across the county. Judges said they had met to review every nomination and were “very impressed with the high standard and numbers of nominations across all categories,” before confirming The Burlington’s place among the finalists in the Providers with Impact strand.
The home, a purpose-built dementia and residential care setting, has built its reputation on Nostalgia Care, a person-centred approach that roots day-to-day support in memory and familiarity, alongside a Life Enrichment Programme structured around six principles: Contribute, Grow, Reflect, Feel, Move and Connect.
This is the fifth year running that The Burlington has reached the finalist stage in this category, having first won Care Home of the Year outright in 2022 and returned as a finalist in every year since. It is a run few care homes in the county can match, and one the team puts down to consistency rather than any single change.
For Home Manager Margielyn “Margie” Gonzaga, the recognition reflects the work of the whole team rather than any single initiative. “This isn’t about one big gesture, it’s about what happens here every single day,” she said. “Our team knows every resident’s story, and that’s what makes the difference. To have that noticed outside these walls means a great deal to all of us.”
The Burlington holds a carehome.co.uk Review Score of 10/10 from 123 reviews, every one rated Excellent or Good. Boutique Care Homes was a National Care Awards 2025 finalist for Care Home Group (Small) of the Year, The Burlington was named among the Top 20 Care Homes in South East England for 2026, and the home won Champion of People and Progress at the Surrey Care Awards in 2025.
Ameet Kotecha, Founder and Managing Director of Boutique Care Homes, said the finalist place speaks to something bigger than one home’s achievement. “Every home in our family has its own character, but they’re all built on the same belief: that people deserve to feel truly at home, wherever they are in life,” he said. “Seeing The Burlington recognised like this, in its own community, is exactly the kind of proof that matters to us.”
Winners will be announced at the Surrey Care Awards Gala on Friday 6th November 2026 at Denbies Wine Estate, Bradley Lane, Dorking. Arrivals and drinks begin at 6:30pm, dinner follows at 7:00pm, and the awards ceremony, hosted by La Voix, leads into an evening of dancing.
Whatever the result on the night, The Burlington’s team already knows what the reviews, the ratings and the families keep telling them. This is care so good it speaks for itself.
