The Burlington Wears It Pink for Breast Cancer Now
The Burlington is turning pink this October. On Saturday 24th October 2026, the Shepperton care home is holding a Wear It Pink fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Now, opening its doors to residents, families, friends and neighbours for an afternoon of music, laughter and community spirit, all for a cause that touches so many families.
A Splash of Pink for a Serious Cause
Wear It Pink is Breast Cancer Now’s flagship fundraising campaign, and every October it turns towns, offices and, this year, The Burlington itself into a sea of pink in support of people affected by breast cancer. From 11:00am, the home’s lounge and garden will fill with guests dressed in their brightest pink outfits, ready to enjoy an afternoon that’s as much about connection as it is about the cause.
There’s no charge to attend. Instead, the day raises money through a raffle, drawn at 12 noon, and through donations on the day, with every penny going to Breast Cancer Now’s work funding research and supporting families through diagnosis and treatment.
Live Music and a Reason to Get Together
Local performer Rosie will provide a varied live set throughout the afternoon, giving residents and visitors a soundtrack to sit back and enjoy, or to get up and sing along to. It’s the kind of event that gives people an easy reason to visit The Burlington, catch up with old friends, and meet residents and families they might not otherwise cross paths with.
“There’s something about live music that just brings a room to life,” said Sarah, Head of Lifestyle and Wellbeing at The Burlington. “Add in everyone dressed head to toe in pink and a raffle to keep people guessing, and you’ve got an afternoon our residents will be talking about for weeks. It’s the social side of these events that means the most: seeing people laugh together, sing together, and just enjoy being in each other’s company.”
Why The Burlington Gets Involved
Breast Cancer Now’s work reaches families everywhere, and The Burlington’s team see it as part of being a genuine presence in the Shepperton community, not just a care home on Manygate Lane. It follows other charity events the home has hosted in the same spirit, including its Macmillan Coffee Morning, each one a chance to open the home’s doors and put residents at the heart of something bigger than themselves.
“Supporting causes like Breast Cancer Now matters to us because it’s personal for so many of the people who walk through our doors, whether that’s residents, their families, or our own team,” said Margielyn, Home Manager at The Burlington. “Events like this remind everyone that The Burlington isn’t just where our residents live, it’s part of this community, and we want to keep showing up for the things that matter to it.”
An Open Invitation
The wider community is warmly invited, whether that’s a family member visiting a loved one, a neighbour curious to see inside the home, or anyone who simply wants to wear pink for the day and support a good cause. It’s a chance to experience the atmosphere at The Burlington firsthand, in keeping with the home’s belief that care should feel like life, thriving, not just care delivered behind closed doors.
